The soulfulness of a gospel singer, overtaken by the fire of the blues within the sensibilities of roots music.......... guess who should be that......

Probably  also the most clever person may not have an answer on that question but...that is the reason that Rootsville.be was born a few years ago, and with a pure conscience we can announce to the whole world that honor goes to none other than..... Shelley King.
Again, she has written music history with the album '' Welcome Home ''.
The Texas State Musician, indeed, a honour which she shares with Billy Joe Shaver, Willie Nelson and Dale Watson. For this exalted recording King recorded with her long-time musical heroes- members of the legendary New Orleans band the subdudes: John Magnie/ piano, keys, accordion, harmonica, and vocals, Tim Cook/vocals, bass, percussion and Steve Amedeé/ vocals, drums, percussion & guitar.  And in my humble opinion might it happen every year.
''Welcome home'' is already Shelley Kin
g's 6th piece of art that is stuffed from songs, never heard on our taxes paid-radio and that is- balancing with my words - a pure shame.
The country- Tex Mex/Zydeco tingled love songs ''Summer wine'','' slow dancing in the sun'', and Everything's All Right- with John Magnie on accordion leaves no one unmoved. The gospel /a capella diamond-drops '' I Remember'' and title track '' Welcome Home'' , the gentle R&B sound  on '' I Can't Make It Easy '' and '' It 's Starting to Rain'' and the boogie-woogie piano on ''How You Make Me Feel'' lets the residents of Austin & New Orleans really shine.  Am I asking too much with my request to bring this lady, her entire band and her Gibson guitars over to Europe as soon as possible - and with heighten airport security- because it would be a disaster for everyone who keeps a warm heart for gospel, soul, blues, zydeco, folk, country and rock  if something were to happen to this good woman.
Until that moment, I touch the repeat button again and again to immensely enjoy those jewels, such as "Falling Fast'', the spiritual cry of distress  ''Oh Lord can you hear me callin'' ( ''Grain of Sand '') and the sublime old-fashioned tear jerker'' Asking Too Much''

Do you still have a noted high place free in your final list at the end of the year?....Shelley King and Welcome Home, I'm sure about it!!!!!   (SWA)
